Blind Kind

“In 1964 I made a film about blind children and how they perceive reality. The lack of sight causes the other senses to be organized in a different manner, as a result of which the blind experience the world completely differently. I attempted to explore this other way of experiencing reality. In their dealings with people who can see, the blind are of course subject to conflicts. The somewhat older boys and girls all had a great desire to spend time with people with vision. This contact is the main subject of their daydreams and vulnerability. Great value is attributed to everything that is visible.” (Johan van der Keuken)
